How did you come to the decision to adopt a dog from APAD?
Have you ever had dogs before? If so, can you tell us a little bit about them: race, sex, character, what happened to them, what relationship you had with them, whether they were bought or adopted, etc.
Is the adopted dog going to live together with other animals that live with you at this moment? What kind of dogs? Can you tell us more about them?
What kind of food would you give the dog you adopt?
Do you know what expenses having an animal brings? Veterinary, food, medication, etc.
The average lifespan of a dog is approximately 15 years, are you willing to meet all the needs it may have throughout its life?
What type of house will the dog live in? In case of it being in a detached house, is it suitably fenced for its safety, in other words of how high is the fence and are there any gaps, holes or escape routes in you fence or gate?
Do you have a pool? If yes, is it dog safe?
Is your home owned or rented? In case of rent, do you know if there is any clause in your contract that specifies that you can not have any dogs?
Do all family member agree with the adoption of the dog? How did you reach consensus?
Which family member will live with the dog on a daily basis?
Have you thought about what you will do with the dog when you go on holiday?
For how many hours will the dog be alone in the house? How many times will you take the dog out for a walk?
Can you tell why you have decided to adopt a puppy or an adult?
Occasionally a dog might destroy something in the house, like all dogs do some time or the other. Are you willing to take it?
If you adopt a puppy, still in growth phase, and it turns out to be a bigger dog than expected, what will you do?
Have you thought about what you would do if the dog you adopt has difficulties to adapt into your family or develops a behavioral problem?
Is there someone in your house allergic to pets? What would you do if it appears that someone in your house develops an allergy for some time after the adoption of the dog?
Would the dog pose a problem if you were to expect a baby?
If, for whatever reason, you are not able to take care of the dog that you adopted in APAD anymore, you will have to inform APAD so that they are aware of the situation. Do you agree?
