Dear animal friends,

APAD has been campaigning for a new contract with Dénia City Council and with the vital support of the APAD community we have now secured a contract for the next 4-5 years. APAD will continue to save the abandoned dogs of the Dénia region! We can now plan the long postponed, necessary investments into the future of our rescue dogs. Our very important animal rescue van has been in a very poor condition for two years now and we have always only been able to carry out expensive repairs. The time has come to look for a new APAD rescue van. For this we need the help and support of the many people who love animals …

When we get a call that a dog is in need, we take our old and battered APAD van and rush to help the dog. It is this van that was the first sign of hope for YUMA, (click picture for video) abandoned just days from giving birth, and the first sign that her wait for help was over.

BELLA

(click picture for video) was found with a rope still tied to her neck, hours from death, hungry and scared. The video shows how we had to remove all of her fur when she came in.

ROCKY

(click picture for video) was just a puppy when he was picked up off the streets of Denia with a broken leg. He had clearly had a home before but was now infested with ticks, hungry and clearly in distress. He urgently needed an operation and months of recuperation. He is now adopted by a loving family and doing great!

For all of these dogs the APAD rescue van was the start into a new life. For some this new life begins on a sunny Sunday afternoon. For others help arrives on a rainy New Year’s Eve. Being able to help when help is needed, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, is key to the work of our many volunteers and our staff at APAD.

We now face a new challenge. The same van that saved so many dog lives in the past has become costly and unreliable. We increasingly have to decide whether to repair the van when it breaks down or buy essentials for our dogs. We work in fear that one day we will not arrive in time to save a dog in need.

It is for this reason that we are reaching out to the community today and ask if you can help to save dogs in danger. A new APAD van will make sure that we can continue to help stray, abandoned and mistreated dogs.

Raising money for a new van is a challenge we can master together. In a time where the best we can do for each other is to socially distance ourselves from each other we can all come together as a community to help the many abandoned dogs at our doorstep.
